Super Love Oracle

Super Love Oracle is a symbolic oracle deck inspired by the lyrics, soundscapes, and emotional worlds within the music of Super Love. Designed as a companion piece to the band’s discography, the project transforms songs into surreal visual metaphors through bold color, thick line work, and psychedelic environments centered around atmosphere, emotion, and connection.

Originally developed alongside the upcoming album Sounds of Seance, the deck expands the visual world of the music into a collectible illustrated system built around 35 original cards.

Goals / Visual Direction

  • Translate the emotional atmosphere of Super Love’s music into a collectible oracle deck built through symbolic visual storytelling

  • Develop a cohesive visual language using a limited high-saturation color palette, bold line work, and surreal environmental imagery

  • Expand the world of the band beyond album artwork by creating an immersive illustrated companion experience tied to the full discography

Process

  • Structured the deck around paired interpretations for each song:

    • a scene-based card focused on atmosphere, place, and environmental storytelling

    • a character-driven card focused on emotion, perspective, and human connection

  • Developed all artwork digitally at 4"×6" card dimensions using Procreate

  • Established a restricted 5-color palette with supporting grayscale tones to create visual consistency across the deck

  • Built a consistent illustration style using thick line work, flat high-saturation colors, and loose sketch-inspired detailing

  • Combined calligraphy brushes with a vector-like workflow to maintain crisp edges while preserving hand-drawn texture and movement

  • Developed compositions through concept sketching, layout exploration, line work, and flat-color rendering

  • Created semi-realistic character illustrations using simplified color blocking and exaggerated environmental compositions

  • Referenced existing album and single artwork throughout the deck to visually connect the broader Super Love universe

Results

  • Created 35 original illustrations within an interconnected visual system

  • Visualized all 16 songs across Super Love’s discography through symbolic environmental and character-driven imagery

  • Expanded the visual identity of Super Love beyond album artwork into a larger illustrated world
